Dr. Paul DeMaris

Dr. Paul DeMaris

DVM/Owner

Dr. Paul DeMaris grew up locally in Seattle, WA. Due to Paul’s sincere passion for both animals and science he knew early on that he wanted to pursue a career in veterinary medicine! Therefore, as a teenager Paul worked diligently as both a kennel assistant and veterinary assistant at a local pet hospital. After graduating from high school he was excited and ready to head over to Washington State University to start working towards his ultimate dream in becoming a veterinarian.

After graduating from vet school in 1987 and working for just a few years in the veterinary field, Dr DeMaris knew he wanted to build his own practice, based on his own values.  He wanted to be able to employ caring and compassionate staff that truly loved animals as much as he did! He also wanted to be able to offer high quality veterinary care to all of his patients, at reasonable and affordable costs to his clients. Therefore, in 1990 Dr DeMaris moved to Snohomish and purchased Alpine View Veterinary Hospital. “We give patients the best available care in a family-like environment. My passion is to strengthen the patient and family bond. The greatest part of practice for me is how close my relationships become with my furry patients and their owners.” states Paul.

When Dr. DeMaris is away from AVVH, he and his wife Barb enjoy spending time with their four children. Eric and Liana are students at Washington State University and are both members of the WSU Crew teams. Maddy and Will are busy high school students at Glacier Peak High School. Their family also has two spoiled and well-loved labs, Roxy and Zeke, who love to play fetch. A couple of funny, crazy kitties, Gus and Lucy, round out the DeMaris household. Dr DeMaris also enjoys playing basketball and hiking. He recently climbed Mount Baker, Mount St. Helens, and Mount Rainier.

Dr. Rita Bauman

Dr. Rita Bauman

DVM

Dr. Bauman grew up in a household that was brimming with pets, so she learned early on the joys and responsibilities of pet ownership. She fondly recalls accompanying her parents to the local vet clinic for preventative and sick visits and being fascinated by the medical side of things. She decided from a very young age that she wanted to become a vet. Today, Dr. Bauman is thrilled to be living her childhood dream and loving every minute of it!

After high school, Dr. Bauman earned her associate degree from Shoreline Community College before transferring to Washington State University, where she received her bachelor’s in animal science. In 1993, Dr. Bauman graduated from Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine with her DVM. Following visits to several clinics in the area, she decided Alpine View was the best fit, and the rest is history. Clinically, Dr. Bauman has a particular interest in preventative care and client relationships.

Dr. Bauman is married to her best friend, Steve. Together, they have two children, both of whom are pursuing degrees and careers of their own. While they don’t have any pets at the moment, the Baumans frequently visit and help care for their daughter’s horse, Yogi, who is boarded nearby. In her free time, Dr. Bauman enjoys singing in her church choir and is always up to the challenge of learning something new.

Dr. Creslin Schultz

Dr. Creslin Schultz

DVM

When Dr. Schultz was in veterinary school, she adopted a three-year-old beagle who had been in a research program before becoming ill. Dr. Schultz brought her home and named her Lily. For the first few weeks, Lily could only be lured out from under the couch with hotdogs, but after much time and patience, she eventually blossomed into a well-adjusted, friendly pup who loved to run and hike. Lily became Dr. Schultz’ heart dog, and still serves as her inspiration to this day.

Dr. Schultz knew from a young age that she wanted to be a vet because she knew it would allow her to combine her love for science with her desire to work with animals and people. She attended a small university in Oregon with a good science program to give herself a running start and was awarded a National Science Foundation grant to work in Michigan on a field study. Dr. Schultz graduated early and spent six months in Tanzania learning about ecology and biology. It was nothing short of life changing.

Upon returning to the States, Dr. Schultz enrolled in a program at the Kentucky Horse Park, where she worked with horses and learned about their medical care and husbandry. While in Kentucky, she applied to veterinary school and flew back to the West Coast for her interview. By that fall, she was sitting in her first vet school class with a huge smile on her face. Dr. Schultz has been with Alpine View since 2010. Clinically, she has special interests in dermatology, behavior, and preventative medicine.

Outside of work, Dr. Schultz is happily married to a fellow veterinarian. Together, they have a daughter, three dogs (Tater Tot, Widget, and 3-legged Vander), a cuddly cat named Leo, and four chickens (Dandelion, Jelly Belly, Sage, and Basil) who love running around the yard whenever it’s sunny outside. In what little spare time she has, you will probably see Dr. Schultz out running on the streets of town or on some of the local trails with her pups in tow. She also enjoys being nose-deep in a good fiction novel.

Dr. Shannon Quinn

Dr. Shannon Quinn

In addition, she was captain of the women’s golf team and a representative for the student athletes for 3 yrs. After graduating from Seattle University with a degree in general science/biology, she pursued her DVM through Ross University located on the very tiny Caribbean island of St Kitts in the West Indies.

Dr Quinn has a passion for internal medicine, surgery, and being there for her clients and her patients during end of life care. She enjoys creating relationships with both her patients and clients and working with them on a one-on-one basis to provide the most understanding and most compassionate care possible. Although Dr Quinn has enjoyed serving the Everett animal community she is eager and excited to begin her career here at Alpine View!

Dr. Ashley Schmitt

Dr. Ashley Schmitt

DVM

Dr. Ashley first expressed her desire to become a veterinarian at the age of just four. As she grew older, however, she drifted away from those aspirations and ended up pursuing a business major. It only took one semester for her to realize that wasn’t the path for her. In 2015, after landing a job at a local veterinary clinic, Dr. Ashley rediscovered her passion for veterinary medicine and the rest is history!

In the years leading up to obtaining her DVM, Dr. Ashley worked in several roles within the veterinary field, including customer service, front desk, and veterinary assistant. She began veterinary school in 2020 and has since earned her degree. Some of Dr. Ashley’s special interests include internal medicine, dermatology, and neurology. You might also find her looking at cytology samples under the microscope.

When she’s not busy nurturing the human-animal bond and building relationships with clients and their pets, Dr. Ashley resides in Woodinville with her twin sisters, their four cats (Charlie, Eleanor, Chaka, and Roscoe), and a Golden Retriever named Evie who is exceptionally good at eating things she shouldn’t. Dr. Ashley’s hobbies include traveling, tending to her plants, exploring the outdoors with Evie, camping, thrift shopping, baking, stand-up paddle boarding in the summer, and snowboarding in the winter.
