There are times when bloodwork and radiographs cannot produce enough information to detect what is causing a pet to be severely sick. During these instances we turn to more advanced imaging diagnostics to provide us with more answers. Ultrasound imaging technology provides the doctors at Alpine View Veterinary Hospital with a non-invasive way to learn more precisely what’s happening inside your pet’s body. It is a safe and painless procedure that produces highly accurate images, allowing us to better evaluate how your pet’s body is functioning.
Some of the conditions ultrasound technology can be used to diagnose and evaluate include:
- Heart disease
- Tumors
- Bladder and/or kidney stones
- Diseases of the organs (liver, kidney, gallbladder, etc.)
- Gastrointestinal concerns
Our board certified radiologist Dr. Ryan Schultz performs ultrasound diagnostics in our hospital. This is not only convenient for our clients and veterinarians to share information quickly, but provides a specialty service in a familiar surrounding for our patients.
Ultrasound appointments are scheduled as a drop off appointment on dedicated dates during the month. Patients are asked to arrive after 9am and to have been fasted for 12 hours prior to their procedure. After ultrasounds are performed, our team notifies each owner and gives them an accurate time to receive their pet.
