Digital radiography, or digital X-ray for short, is an imaging technology that allows us to examine your pet’s organs and internal systems, including the heart and lungs, the musculoskeletal system, the gastrointestinal system, and the reproductive and urinary systems.
Digital X-rays are non-invasive, painless, and provide our doctors with high quality images that are available for immediate evaluation. This allows for a much timelier diagnosis and treatment strategy. If necessary, digital X-ray images can be shared electronically with specialists for further assessment.
Digital radiology is routinely used to identify and diagnose the following:
- Bone and joint injuries or abnormalities
- Foreign objects inside the body
- Abnormalities of the heart, lungs, urinary, and digestive systems
- Screening for certain types of cancer
